Any of us throughout life can suffer from stress, anxiety, or tension.

Before, it was unthinkable to talk openly about these discomforts because it was the same as recognizing that you were weak; however, today these conditions are spoken of very naturally. That's great because it allows people to seek the help they need without any embarrassment. The interesting thing is that professional help and techniques to alleviate these ills are within reach.

Now, you may object that the term "diseases" can be used, but they are. The reason is that if "something steals" well-being, you should look for an effective remedy that relieves the uncomfortable sensation; just as you would with a disease.

Although it is recommended that you go to a professional in psychology to guide you on how to deal with these discomforts, the truth is that you can also help yourself at home with effective techniques that will give you relief.

Therefore, I share with you some techniques that will give you a better quality of life; even so, the recommendation will always be that you go to a professional before the situation becomes untenable.

1 Get rid of stress

The exercise is really simple, you just have to flex and relax your muscles.

Suppose that your work requires many hours maintaining the same position: a lot of time standing or sitting. This makes the body feel numb and crampy, to the point that changing position is painful. It also occurs when your work requires intense effort, for example: lifting heavy material or a lot of physical exercises.

Regaining your normal feeling can be achieved by doing the following:

Flex the muscles of your body for 10 seconds, after this, you will feel how your body relaxes for 20 seconds.

You can do this with every part of your body: arms, legs, neck and head, and torso. Finally, what you will achieve is that the pleasant sensation is projected to your mind and thus the stress is relieved.

2 Eat healthily

One of the most obvious signs of self-love of all time is taking care of your body. How to do it? One of the ways is to eat healthily.

Relieving stress through healthy eating is a method used by psychotherapist Jeffrey Sumber. He explains that when he feels down, he likes to eat something tasty. For this he chooses to eat something rich and healthy at the same time; even, he also chooses to prepare something that he has never cooked before.

The process goes from the purchase of the food to the preparation. I understand its purpose: to focus your attention on a situation other than the stress-triggering problem.

3 In the face of stress, react correctly

Psychologist Susan Krauss Whitbourne says that she never fights stress. Instead of this, the technique that she applies is to repeat a mantra that she herself devised. This helps you channel the stressful situation in a better way.

What he does in a situation of anguish is repeat the following phrase: "I can't change the situation, but I can change my reaction."

It is like someone who says: “ If a problem has a solution, why should I worry? And if it doesn't, why should I worry? On the surface, it seems like a disinterested attitude, but it is not. It is redirecting the way you react or do not react to a problematic situation.

The point is that you propose a time to find a solution to the situation. It is a reminder that everything has its time and place.

5 Have useful activities

It is based on passing the index finger over the lips, left and right, for a few minutes. What this movement does is stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system, which works only when the body is calm.
